Overview

In the most simplistic definition, air filtration is just what the words mean.  All incoming air is filtered using a primary filter designed to trap micro-organizisms (i.e. the PRRS virus) and prevent the exposure of such organisms to your herd.

Air filtration also must encompass a comprehensive bio-secuirty protocol designed to address air entry points that cannot be filtered such as entry / exit points (doors and windows).

The data is fairly self explanatory. Two  of ten filtered herds broke with PRRS, due to non-filter breaches, over a two year period of time ending September 2010.  In the non-filtered control group, 24 of 26 herds broke with PRRS in that same period of time.
