How It Works

The objective of air filtration is to filter 100% of incoming air through filters designed to not allow viruses and other contaminants that may challenge the health of your herd upon entering your facility.

The primary filter is a "hepa-type" filter that is capable of removing airborne pathogens from the air that passes through it.  The primary filter is protected by pre-filter designed to prevent dust and larger air born material from damaging or clogging the primary filter.

Due to the size of today’s swine production facilities, there are many opportunities for air to enter the facility.  Therefore, comprehensive and well designed processes and bio-security protocols must be implemented and executed daily to compliment the use of filters to reduce the risk of introduction of unfiltered air.

What the experts are saying…

Our farm was breaking with a new PRRS strain more than 1 time per year.  In many cases, the virus could be traced to local area finishing sites.  In the summer of 2008 we filtered our farm.  Our working lives have changed completely since.  We can focus our time on husbandry instead of mortality hauling.  The air quality for all of us is better also.  We are no longer living in fear each day of the health status of our neighboring producers.
